So, Kristen and I decided that since we love donuts/doughnuts so much, it will be no problem doing a series on these specialty shops throughout the city.
For those of you who aren't in Chicago, I'm sorry to tempt you. But at least you'll have an idea of where to go when you visit!
Like most awesome things, we've heard about these places through word-of-mouth. (Yelp reviews are pretty spot-on as well.) A few weeks back, a friend mentioned Do-Rite Donuts. So over the weekend, K and I met down in The Loop to see if their doughnuts and service could live up to the hype.
Our first blog post was actually on The Doughnut Vault, which is definitely a place worth revisiting. And while Do-Rite and TDV both operate out of small (and nicely-designed) downtown spaces, offer a plethora of fresh and delicious doughnuts, and play 90s hip hop / pop behind their counters, I would say Do-Rite one-ups TDV in a couple ways:
- There was no crazy wait to get to those fresh doughnuts! Yes, there was a pretty constant stream of people going in and out. But from about 9-10 am, there was no line.
- Another great plus for me was their outdoor seating; their only seating. But it was enough!
